Let us all give some serious “props” to Missy Graves who organized the Rotary Auction and raised just over $4,000 for the Children’s Christmas Party.  Well Done Missy, Well Done.

Here is a report from Missy on the event and a list of all the Rotary Auction Winners:

The Rotary Service Auction on Nov. 12 was a great success.  We auctioned off 49 items to a crowd of about 70 people.  Rob Tracy, our auctioneer extraordinaire, did a wonderful job keeping us bidding and providing some good laughs.  Below is the list of live auction items and the winners.  I would like to thank my committee -- Jackie Corbett, Keith Butters, Joyce Midlam and Candy Fay -- for all their hard work.  Special thanks, of course, to Rob Tracy and thanks to Jeannie Packer, Maria Ramos, Kim Ocuto, Val Carey and her daughter for their help the evening of the event.

Program

Polio by Janet Nichols

Janet Nichols, a polio survivor, gave a remarkable presentation about her personal ordeal with this disease – a disease which Rotary has done so much to try and combat.  She contracted Polio in 1953 and was paralyzed for a period of time before undergoing physical therapy and other treatments and ultimately recovering.  Her twin brother Frankie was not so lucky – he died from the disease as a very young boy.  Janet gave a history of the disease, the various treatments used throughout time and where it stands today.  She was a real life example of just how important Rotary’s efforts have been through the years.  Thank you Janet.
