Superintendent Jeff Simons announced the January 26, 2010 bond resolution to repair five elementary schools.  The repairs will address roofs, boilers, heating and ventilation systems and handicapped accessiblity.  The project, to cost $30 million, is eligible for 97.6% state aid. A home assessed at $100,000  would incur a tax increase of about $4.00 per year to pay for the district’s share of these repairs.

There is a new Club Constitution which you can find on the web site, under documents, here: http://romerotaryny.org/documents.htm

One thing President Bob would like to point out is that you need to attend 60% of the meeting in order for it to count – hence, no signing in and leaving.

Program – Tracey Comens, Hillside Children’s Center

Tracey Comens delivered a very interesting program on foster care as administered by the Hillside Children’s Center.  They are a not-for-profit which contracts with Oneida County for foster care services.  Most of the children they place come through the court system due to a neglect situation and each child is assigned a social worker who devlelops a plan and needed services for that child. Several Rotarians spoke positively about the impact being a foster parent had on their lives.  Thank you Tracey!
