Area Reports:

·     Membership (TBD). (Recruiting, orientations, inductions, and mentoring.) No Report.

·     Public Relations (Mattacola). No report.

·     Club Administration (Mercurio).

2009–10 RRC Vice President Nominee/Selection — Missy Graves (Schonewetter). Missy Graves was selected by the Board to be the Vice President effective on 7/1/09. The Board commends both PP Greg Matticola and VP Steve Mercurio for being willing to stand for election for this VP slot when the Club had difficulty finding a volunteer.

2009–10 RRC Treasurer Nominee/Selection — Sandie Latimer (Kobernuss). Sandie Latimer was selected by the Board to be the Club Treasurer effective immediately. Dave Kobernuss will continue as the Assistant Treasurer and will transition materials and functions to Sandie at their mutual convenience.

RRC 90th Anniversary on 1 Dec 2009 — Celebration? (Occhipinti). PDG Mike has booked The Beeches for 12/4/2009. Mike is trying to secure Past RIVP Mike McGovern to be the speaker for this event.

New Fundraising Project Ideas (Mercurio). No report.

·     Club Projects (Herrmann).

Interact Club at RFA — Progress (Herrmann/Neiley N). PE Bob reported that the Interact Club may be a Tuesday Rotary Meeting Program during the February School Break.

YE Student Information & Host Families Update (Herrmann/Neiley N). PE Bob told the Board that the YE Student, Simon Kristensen, has returned to Denmark for his grandmother’s funeral. Simon will return to Rome soon and will be scheduled to be a speaker at the Club sometime in the spring.

Rotary Reader Program Update (Herrmann/Packer). Herrmann said there was nothing new to report.

Healthcare Professional of the Year (Carnevale). PP Ray reported that the process of organizing this year’s event has begun.

·     The Rotary Foundation (Tuthill).

Bill Tuthill said that if all of our current Sustaining Members continue, that the Club will be up to 24 Sustaining Members of the TRF.

Pennies-for-Polio Update (Tuthill/Corbett). PDG Occhipinti reported that Rome Savings Bank has contributed $2,052.35 and $615.81 was donated by students in Rome.

Polio Dinner on 30 Jan 09 (Occhipinti). As of today, there are about 55 people signed up to attend the dinner — the maximum is 95. PDG Mike said there will be about eight to ten guests invited and requested a budget of $300 to cover the expenses related to the dinner. This was unanimously approved.

Other Old Business: None.

·     Donation Request — Rome Youth Hockey Association — $2,000 (Mattacola/Till). Mattacola reported via Schonewetter that this is an ongoing program that would require a $2,000 donation each year. In the absence of a new program or specific need, the Board chose to not act on this request.

·     D&O Insurance Discussion (Butters). There was consensus that this coverage is needed and Dave Kobernuss was directed to solicit bids from the Rowan Group (Adamo) and Allstate (Mattson) and then report back to the Board about coverage and costs.

Other New Business:

·     Canalfest Advertising Booklet Fundraiser (Donovan/Schonewetter). After a brief discussion, this topic was tabled until the broader discussion about fundraising at next month’s meeting.

·     President Ron asked everyone present to help Program Chair Tiffany Martin to find Programs for the Tuesday Meetings.

·     PDG Mike Occhipinti introduced a fundraising idea concerning advertising on our Club’s web site. He said it would be explained in detail at the 1/20 Club Meeting by that day’s speaker.

·     PP Debbie Adamo told us that the RACC Home Show will be held on 4/25 and 4/26 this year. Rome Rotary will have a booth again this year for visibility purposes and to sell duck tickets. Our Canalfest costumes will be used throughout the Home Show and worn by RFA JROTC Cadets.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:08 PM. The next regular meeting of the Board will be at noon on 13 February 2009 at the Savoy Restaurant.

Respectfully submitted,

Dennis R. Schonewetter
