Rome Rotary 90th Anniversary Celebration

Our 90th Anniversary was celebrated at the Franklin Hotel on December 1, 2009. The event was called to order by President Bob Herrmann. Following the Pledge of Allegiance the Reverend Phillip Hearn gave the invocation. Next Brian Adey presented Legislative proclamations of commemoration on behalf of NYS Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito and NYS Senator Joseph Griffo.
 
A homestyle dinner of salad, slice pork, chicken, string beans, and homestyle potatoes was next on the agenda. Cake followed for desert.
 
The event proceeded with the Presidents summary of Oneida County Executive, Anthony Picente Jr.'s Proclamation of this day as "ROME ROTARY CLUB DAY IN ONEIDA COUNTY". Next PDG Mike Occipinti highlighted the achievements of past Rome Rotary Presidents, calling them one by one. District Governor, Fred Cholet gave remarks and noted our club is holding Christmas parties both for the young and old in the same day. Bill Tuthill, our Foundation Chair presented Paul Harris Awards to Maria Ramos, PP Ron Townsend and Jackie Corbet. Rotary International Past Vice President, Michael McGovern our main speaker gave a very entertaining history of Rome Rotary. Father Hearn gave a very interesting and entertaining benediction and we proceeded to entertainment provided by the Chatham Theater Players. This rounded out the night with Christmas songs from their current production.
